A group of individuals had a fortunate escape from a potentially deadly car accident after their vehicle skidded off the Takoradi-Cape Coast highway and landed in a nearby stream at Daboase Junction.
The incident occurred on Sunday, April 30, 2023, as the driver was traveling from Takoradi towards Accra. An eyewitness reported that the driver was attempting to avoid a pothole when the car went airborne, resulting in a somersault and a crash into the muddy water.
Thankfully, a number of locals who happened to be nearby at the time of the accident rushed to the aid of the passengers, who were trapped in the grey Hyundai Elantra.
With the help of these Good Samaritans, the travellers were successfully rescued from the vehicle. Despite the severity of the accident, none of the passengers sustained serious injuries.
The incident could have been fatal had it occurred during the night, according to some of the locals who assisted in the rescue operation.
In order to free the woman who was stuck in the front passenger seat, the rescuers had to cut through her seatbelt. It is worth noting that the impact of the accident caused the airbags in the car to deploy.
