WAEC warns against unapproved fees for 2023 WASSCE registration

WAEC Summons more than 2,000 Candidates over Exam Malpractice

WAEC has issued a stern warning to senior high schools that are charging unapproved fees for the upcoming 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Some schools have been promising better grades at exorbitant fees, and the Council has taken notice of this.

According to Agnes Teye Cudjoe, the Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, some schools are charging more than the approved registration fee of GH¢381 for entry in seven or eight subjects.

This fee excludes practical and oral test fees, which range between GH¢14.50 and GH¢19.50 per practical test. Any schools charging above GH¢6,000 are suspect, as the Council does not authorize such fees.

Additionally, the public has been warned against falsifying or fabricating continuous assessment of candidates. Eligible candidates can take the 2023 WASSCE between 31st July and 21st September.
