Open letter to Ghana TVET Service Director General - Addressing the Imbalance

The Director-General of the TVET Service, Mawusi Nudekor Awity, has announced that the government is taking steps to improve Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the country to address the issue of unemployment.

These measures include modernizing and equipping TVET institutions, providing teacher training, recruiting new teachers, collaborating with donors, emphasizing soft skills development for employability, and strengthening partnerships with industries.

The announcement was made at the 22nd graduation ceremony of the 2nd Image International Skills College in Accra, where more than 120 students graduated with diplomas and certificates in various fields.

The Director-General, speaking through the Director for Training Assessment and Quality Assurance, Samuel Debrah, highlighted the importance of quality TVET in addressing youth unemployment.

The theme of the graduation ceremony was “Positive attitude: The power to succeed.”

The Director-General urged the graduates to adopt a positive attitude in all aspects of their lives, as it brings optimism, increased satisfaction, and success.

The Director of Administration at the college emphasized the importance of practical work and moral principles in preparing graduates to be creative, good decision-makers, and relevant to nation-building.

He also reminded the graduates of their role in propelling the country’s development and encouraged them to reflect on their experiences at the college.
