Offices and Shops in Accra Central to Close for 3 Days for Final Funeral Rites of Ga ManyƐ

The Central Business District in the Greater Accra Region will observe a three-day closure to accommodate the concluding funeral ceremonies of the late Ga ManyƐ, Naa Dedei Omaedru III, the Paramount Queen of Ga State.

Naa-Yarlay Adjei Amoah, the Chief of Staff at the Ga Mantse’s office and Secretary of the Central Funeral Planning Committee, announced that this closure will take place from October 27th to October 29th.

During this period, offices and shops within the Central Business District are expected to remain closed as a mark of respect. Additionally, businesses are encouraged to adorn their premises with black and red drapes.

The call for solidarity extends to the various markets, which are urged to similarly decorate their surroundings in black and red to collectively mourn the late queen.

Naa-Yarlay Adjei Amoah emphasized that this mourning period is a shared experience and urged everyone to cooperate during this time of sorrow.

Naa-Yarlay Adjei Amoah made this announcement during a visit by a delegation from the Jospong Group of Companies, led by Mrs. Adokarley Okpoti-Paulo, Group Financial Controller for Environmental and Sanitation Group/ Finance Director of Zoomlion Ghana Limited.

The delegation paid their respects and signed the condolence book at the Ga Traditional Council on September 8, 2023.

Shops to close for 3 days in honour of Ga ManyƐ's final funeral rights

As a gesture of support, the Jospong Group presented a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, cartons of mineral water, refuse bins, and an undisclosed cash donation to assist with the preparations for the final funeral rites of the late Ga ManyƐ. Mrs. Okpoti-Paulo stated that their intention was to offer consolation and solidarity during this difficult time.

She also pledged that Zoomlion Ghana Ltd., a subsidiary of the group, would take responsibility for all sanitation-related matters during and after the funeral ceremony to ensure cleanliness within the Ga State.

Expressing gratitude for the gesture, Nii Ahene Nunoo III praised the Group and offered prayers for the long life of the Executive Chairman of the Group.


The final funeral rites of the late Ga ManyƐ, who passed away in December of the previous year, are scheduled to take place from October 15 to October 31, 2023. Notably, President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo signed the book of condolences on June 19, 2023.
