The reconnection of the impacted subscribers was made possible after completing their biometric capture.

The National Communications Authority (NCA) issued a letter on March 20, 2023, instructing all operators to disconnect numbers that had not completed their Stage 2 registration, which involves biometric capture, by March 31, 2023. In compliance with the directive, MTN Ghana disconnected an additional 37,146 SIMs in March 2023, bringing the total number of disconnected SIMs as per the regulatory directive to 5,796,381.

On April 13, 2023, the NCA issued a subsequent letter instructing that all disconnected SIMs should be delinked from the SIM registration database, effective from April 17, 2023.

Consequently, 3,842,086 of the disconnected SIMs have been delinked from the SIM registration database.

MTN Ghana has reiterated its commitment to the national SIM re-registration exercise and promised to continue deploying resources and working with the regulator to accelerate SIM re-registration for all subscribers.
