Demonstrating a strong commitment to enhancing education and addressing crucial infrastructure needs, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Damongo constituency, has generously contributed to the Ndewura Jakpa Senior High and Technical School in Damongo.
The contribution includes a brand-new Toyota Hilux Pick-up vehicle, a public address system, and a fully equipped computer.
The formal presentation took place at the school campus, where the Damongo MP highlighted that these donations directly responded to a plea made by the school’s management to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his previous visit to the institution.
Underlining the pivotal role of education in development, Mr. Jinapor reassured the constituents of his steadfast dedication to ensuring the provision of high-quality education, not only in the Damongo constituency but also across the entire Savannah region.
Commending the MP’s gesture, Mabel Judith Micah, the Savannah Region Director of Education, remarked that the provided vehicle would be put to effective use according to the school’s requirements.
She stressed the significance of academic excellence and encouraged students to seize the opportunities at hand.
Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed, the Headmaster of Ndewura Jakpa Senior High and Technical School, expressed deep gratitude for Mr. Jinapor’s intervention.
He praised the parliamentarian for his consistent support and contributions, which have significantly contributed to the school’s advancement.
Additionally, the Minister shared positive developments regarding the long-awaited Damongo water project.
He revealed that the project is on the verge of commencement, with the contract already awarded to address the persistent water challenges faced by the community.
Speaking about the water scarcity issue, Mr. Jinapor announced, “The contract has been granted, the contractor is ready to begin, and work is getting underway.
Necessary resources, including pipes, are being transported to the Damongo Water Works office. We are taking action to tackle the water problem.”
The Damongo Water Supply Project was initiated to counter years of inadequate water supply resulting from siltation problems affecting the existing water abstraction system.
President Akufo Addo officially launched the project on July 28, 2020, securing a credit facility of USD 49 million from the UK Export Finance and Deutsche Bank AG.
The new Water Supply System aims to fulfill the water requirements of Damongo and its environs until 2040, catering to an estimated population of 68,000 individuals.
Envisioned to provide an average water demand of approximately 8,800 cubic meters per day, this critical infrastructure endeavor is poised to alleviate the region’s water-related challenges.
