Manchester City bounced back from a frustrating week to comfortably defeat Bournemouth and maintain pressure on Premier League leaders, Arsenal.
Following disappointing draws with Nottingham Forest and RB Leipzig, City took the lead through Julian Alvarez and never appeared to be in danger of conceding again. Erling Haaland scored his 27th top-flight goal of the season to make it 2-0, before Phil Foden added a third before half-time.
Bournemouth’s misery was complete when Chris Mepham scored an own goal in the second half, although they did manage a late consolation goal through Jefferson Lerma.
Despite Arsenal winning their game earlier in the day, City’s victory reduced their lead to just two points, although Arsenal still have a game in hand. Bournemouth, who battled but were outclassed, remain in 19th place in the table, after three other teams in the bottom six picked up points
