Mahama criticizes NDC MPs for approving Akufo-Addo’s ministers, urges national interest

Former President John Mahama criticized some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for approving all six ministers appointed by President Akufo-Addo.

He stated that the NDC had taken a principled stance not to approve any new ministers until the President reduced the size of his government.

However, some MPs voted against this position for personal interests. Mahama urged those responsible for this betrayal to place national interest over personal interest.

Mahama expressed disappointment in the President’s refusal to downsize his government, despite resignations from some members of his administration.

He believed that government could still function efficiently with no more than 60 ministers, and that the NPP administration and some NDC MPs were out of tune with the mood of Ghanaians.

Mahama urged Ghanaians not to despair and to work hard to defeat the “reckless government” in the 2024 elections. He called for unity in building the Ghana that they all desired from January 7, 2025.
