Boarding schools are now a breeding ground for LGBTQ+ activity and occultism, former rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Stephen Adei, has said.
In his view, Ghana must say goodbye to public boarding schools.
In the olden days, Prof Adei said the boarding school system served a very important purpose of bringing people of different ethnic groups and backgrounds together to foster national cohesion through diversity but has now become a hub for learning and doing bad things.
Speaking on the recent viral video of a bully at Adisadel College choking and smacking the head of a fellow student against a bunk bed, Prof Adei, who own a private school, told Accra-based Asaase Radio on Wednesday, 26 July 2023 that the boarding system “was quite a useful means of training a few elites” but argued that they must now be scrapped since they have become a den for social vices.
“Once we have reached a certain level, the boarding school, as a public means of education is a no, no”, Prof Ade said.
“At this moment, people in boarding schools are likely to pick more anti-social things including lesbianism, occultism than before”, he warned.
