A total of 85 students from Koforidua Senior High Technical School have been indefinitely suspended due to their misconduct. The disciplinary committee of the school made this decision on Monday, May 29, 2023.
Although most of the suspended students are in their final year, they will still be allowed to participate in the final West Africa Senior School Certificate Exams (WASSCE).
The reason for their suspension is their involvement in an attack on teachers and students from New Juaben Senior High School on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
This violent incident resulted in some students suffering from machete wounds, and one of them has been left partially paralyzed. At the time of the attack, four students were arrested.
The Headmaster of the school, Ofori Antwi, stated that the Board and Management of the school have decided to charge each student an amount of GHS2000 to cover the cost of the damages caused to school property.
Additionally, the school’s prefects have been demoted from their positions.
Furthermore, the second-year students who were involved in the attack have been instructed to report to the police with a letter. They will receive assistance in finding accommodation near the school’s campus.
