The Rotary Club of Ho has taken the initiative to launch a fundraiser campaign aimed at upgrading the deteriorating Kpando Health Center in the Kpando Municipality of the Volta Region.
Their goal is to transform it into a Polyclinic to enhance healthcare services, particularly for maternal and child health.
To achieve this, the club is seeking to raise approximately GH₵300,000, which will be utilized to renovate and revamp the maternity unit and bolster the facility’s human resources.
By doing so, they hope to address the pressing issue of maternal and child mortality in the area.
Presently, the Kpando Health Center faces significant challenges, including limited space and inadequate human resources.
This has led to difficulties in providing quality healthcare to the residents due to the lack of sufficient logistics and resources.
Dr. Samuel Abudey, the Kpando Municipal Director of Health, expressed concern about the Health Center’s condition, stating that despite being one of the oldest health facilities in the Volta Region, it has seen little improvement.
The scarcity of resources has hindered their efforts to introduce new services and enhance existing ones.
In response to this urgent situation, the Rotary Club of Ho is dedicated to refurbishing the maternal health unit with an estimated cost of GH₵300,000.
The club’s president, Alphonse Makafui Dzakpasu, emphasized that this project aligns with their vision to contribute to the improvement of healthcare in the region, with a specific focus on maternal and child health.
The proposed project aims to renovate the entire health center, including the roofing, ceiling, infrastructure, columns, and walls, making it a more suitable and well-equipped facility.
The upgraded center will be furnished with modern equipment to meet the healthcare demands of the local population.
Alphonse Makafui Dzakpasu called upon everyone to contribute to the fundraising efforts to make this project a reality and provide quality healthcare services to the residents of the Kpando Municipality.
He believes that establishing the Polyclinic will significantly enhance healthcare delivery in the area, and he encouraged all individuals and communities to support this noble cause.
