Komfo Kolegae Overcomes Fear of Playing a Fetish Priest to Achieve Fame in Kumawood

It is difficult to believe that Kumawood actor, Komfo Kolegae, was ever hesitant to play the role of a fetish priest, given how well he portrays the character. He wears a smock or skirt made of rafia, accessorized with cowries, beads, talismans, and white powder, among other things, to look fearsome.

However, Komfo Kolegae, whose real name is Collins Oteng, recently revealed that he was initially afraid to take on the “divinity” role due to the perceived negative outcomes associated with it.

Despite his fears, Komfo Kolegae overcame them and made sacrifices to play the role. It turned out to be the magic that turned his fortunes around as an actor, and he is now known as Komfo Kolegae, which has become his brand name.

He insists that his acting is not meant to tarnish the image of any religion or belief and that the negative consequences associated with the role are purely fictional.

Komfo Kolegae recently experienced a tragic loss when he lost his wife and baby through labor complications. However, he has returned to full-time work and is doing his best to keep himself busy and forget his suffering.

He also believes that the Kumawood movie industry is still alive, despite the shift from tapes and DVDs to streaming on digital platforms such as YouTube.
