Ghana Police Officers Injured in Clash with Students of St. Bernadette’s Technical Institute: UE/R

ASP Kingsley Kanda, the Navrongo Municipal Police Commander, along with three police officers, is currently receiving medical treatment at War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo. This follows a confrontation with students from St. Bernadette’s Technical Institute in the Upper East Region.

ASP Kingsley Kanda sustained a broken leg injury, while the three officers also suffered various injuries. Joseph Adongo, the Municipal Chief Executive of the area, recounted the incident to Moses Apiah. According to Adongo, the police were called to the school to intervene in a dispute between the students and the management.

However, during the altercation, the Municipal Police Commander suffered a broken leg, and three officers were injured, necessitating their admission to the hospital.

Providing further details, the Chief Executive explained that on Saturday, May 13, 2023, the students attempted to organize an inter-ethnic football match with students from other schools, but the school authorities prohibited it.

The students defied the directive, leading to a clash with the school management. The situation escalated to the point where the school authorities requested assistance from the Ghana Police Service.

Additionally, 27 students have been arrested and brought before the court as of Monday, May 15, 2023.

In the meantime, the school has been indefinitely closed down.
