The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued an appeal to the citizens of Ghana, urging patience and understanding during the ongoing disruptions in internet services, which have impacted the vending and purchasing of power nationwide.
In a statement released on Sunday, March 17, 2024, and disseminated across the company’s social media platforms, ECG management assured customers of their proactive engagement with service providers and metering vendors to promptly address the challenges.
“We apologize for any inconvenience caused and wish to reassure our valued customers of our steadfast commitment to delivering reliable service,” stated the ECG management in their announcement.
The company’s proactive approach and efforts to resolve the issue demonstrate its dedication to maintaining quality service delivery despite the current challenges.
Meanwhile, the National Communications Authority (NCA) has “regrettably” informed the general public that “multiple undersea cable disruptions” have impacted mobile and fixed data services nationwide.
The disruptions affecting several undersea cables responsible for carrying international traffic have occurred in Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire, with some disruptions in Portugal, the NCA said in a statement on Thursday, March 14, 2024.
“This has resulted in a significant degradation of data services across the country,” the statement said.
“It is important to note that the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) have redundancies on other cables and are working tirelessly to restore full services.”
“In addition, the MNOs have notified affected customers of the disruptions via various channels,” the NCA added.
The Authority stated that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates to the public accordingly.
