Application Deadline: November 7, 2023.
The Department of State administers the annual Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, as established by Section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA).
This initiative provides an opportunity for “diversity immigrants” from countries with historically low immigration rates to the United States.
For Fiscal Year 2025, up to 55,000 Diversity Visas (DVs) will be available. Registration for the DV program is free, but selected applicants must pay a visa application fee during the formal visa application process.
For DV-2025, individuals from specific countries are not eligible to apply due to significant immigration rates to the United States in recent years.
Eligibility:
- Natives of countries with historically low immigration rates may qualify. If not native to such a country, eligibility can be claimed through a spouse or a parent’s country of birth under certain conditions.
- Each DV applicant must meet the education or work experience requirement, either having a high school education or equivalent, or two years of relevant work experience.
Selection:
Official notifications of selection will be available from May 4, 2024, to September 30, 2025, on the E-DV website (dvprogram.state.gov). The Department of State will not send selection notifications via regular mail or email. Be cautious of fraudulent communications claiming selection or requesting money.
