The Ministry of Education held its “Excellence Awards for Agencies” event, where the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) was recognized as the Overall Best Performing agency for the year 2022 based on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
The National Schools Inspection Authority (NASIA) and the national Teaching Council (NTC) tied for first runners up, while the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Student Loan Trust Fund tied for second runners up.
The assessed agencies under the Ministry included CENDLOS, CTVET, GES, GAAS, Ghana Library Authority, and NaCCA, as well as NASIA, the Complementary Education Agency, GTEC, NSS, NTC, the Student Loan Trust Fund, the Ghana Book Development Council, WAEC, and GETFUND.
Each agency signed a performance agreement with the Ministry, which contained KPIs used to measure success.
These targets and KPIs are linked to the Education Sector Plan (2018-2030) with set targets and reform areas for various agencies. Independent evaluators selected by the National Education Reform Secretariat conducted the appraisal.
The Director-General of the CTVET, Dr Fred Kyei Asamoah, received the award shield inscribed with “In recognition of your consistent outstanding achievement, as the best performing agency in the implementation of your roadmap in line with the 2022 performance agreement, this award is presented to the CTVET.”
According to the Head of Public Relations of the CTVET, Albert Opare, the commission incorporated the performance agreement into their mainstream activities, and the collective efforts of management and staff led to their success.
Dr Asamoah expressed his gratitude for the award and acknowledged the challenge to maintain or improve their performance in the future.
