May Day, also known as International Labor Day, is observed every year on May 1 to recognize the struggles and achievements of workers and the labor movement.

It is also a time to promote awareness of the rights and opportunities that should be available to every worker for their welfare and advancement.

On May 1, 2023, which has been declared a statutory public holiday in Ghana by the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, thousands of Ghanaian workers are expected to gather in Bolgatanga, the capital of the Upper East Region, where the President of Ghana will address them.

Dr. Afriyie Akoto, who previously served as Minister of Food and Agriculture, believes that Ghanaian workers deserve recognition for their contributions to the economic growth and stability of Ghana.

In his statement, he congratulated them on their hard work and wished them well in the years to come.
