The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, has announced that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has initiated investigations into the tragic death of a student at Aburi Girls Senior High School.
Reports suggest that the first-year student passed away allegedly due to being denied medical attention by the school nurse.
Addressing journalists following discussions with school authorities on February 9, the Regional Minister stated, “I have received a briefing from the school’s management. Given the circumstances surrounding the student’s demise, it necessitates involvement from law enforcement agencies, particularly the CID of the Ghana Police, to conduct a thorough investigation.”
Mr. Acheampong also appealed for calm amidst the social media outcry surrounding the incident.
“We extend our condolences to the management and students. We pray for strength for the family. We are closely monitoring the investigation, and we are committed to upholding the sanctity of this institution,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, both school management and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have refrained from commenting on the unfortunate incident.
