Chris Hughton, the new Black Stars head coach, is expected to be unveiled next week, according to the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum. The official communication was made two weeks ago, but Hughton has not been able to travel to Ghana due to the death of a family member. Asante Twum stated that Hughton needed time with his family to plan the burial service, and that is why he has not yet arrived in Ghana.
Asante Twum also revealed that Hughton’s assistants would be unveiled with him, and that the squad announcement for Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group E doubleheader against Angola would also be made official upon his arrival. He said that the details of the contract and the targets set for the new technical team would also be shared at the unveiling event.
Ghana is set to host Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23, followed by a trip to Luanda for the return fixture four days later. Asante Twum expressed confidence that Hughton would arrive in Ghana as planned, and that they were constantly engaging on his unveiling and media engagement.
