Ghana took the lead in the first half when Stella Nyamekye converted a penalty kick after Comfort Owusu was fouled in the box. This goal, her fourth of the tournament, gave Ghana the advantage.

Yusif Basigi’s team appeared to be on the verge of securing victory in the second half as they held onto their lead and fended off the Nigerian attacks.

However, just five minutes away from full time, the visiting team managed to equalize due to a miscommunication between goalkeeper Afi Amenyaku and her defense. Flourish Sabastine seized the opportunity and brought Nigeria level, but they could have fallen short once again as Georgina Ayisha Aoyem’s shot hit the crossbar.
