Binduri Community Day SHS to Resume Academic Activities as Caterer Resumes Cooking for Students

After a protest by first and second-year students at Binduri Community Day Senior High School in the Upper East Region regarding the lack of food, academic activities are set to resume as the caterer has resumed preparing meals for the students.

The students had boycotted classes on Tuesday, June 11, 2023, due to allegations that the school caterer had failed to provide them with meals for over a month.

In response to the students’ grievances, the authorities took immediate action to address the issue. Consequently, starting from July 12th, 2023, the students were instructed to stay at home while the concerns were being addressed.

To resolve the ongoing food shortage problem, the Binduri District Director of Education, John Soka Jaggery, assured the students that the caterer would resume cooking on Monday, July 17, 2023.

Recognizing the severity of the situation and its impact on the students’ well-being and academic progress, education authorities have taken proactive measures to rectify the problem.

By providing a specific date for the caterer to resume cooking, the authorities aim to restore the students’ confidence and assure them that their concerns are being promptly addressed.

Consequently, academic activities are expected to resume on the campus of Binduri Day Senior High Secondary School as the caterer has resumed cooking and the students have been provided with jollof rice.

This development signifies a positive step towards resolving the food shortage issue and ensuring the students’ needs are adequately met.
