Bawumia and Alan not top NPP candidates – Kwabena Agyapong

He believes that Ghanaians are seeking a change in the political system and want someone who can ensure development and progress for the country. He further emphasized that he is the person who can offer that change and ensure that Ghana develops into a prosperous country.

Agyapong, who is the former Presidential Spokesperson and General Secretary of the NPP, believes that he stands a better chance of winning the election than the two candidates being projected by the media.

He also believes that the cost of running the government in the country is too high and needs to be reviewed. He expressed that anyone who thinks that Dr Bawumia and Alan Kyeremanteng are the front-runners in the NPP’s presidential race is detached from reality.

Agyapong stated that if he becomes the President, his government will not have more than 19 Ministers, and there is no point in having more than two deputy ministers in one Ministry. He added that there is a need to consolidate some of the ministries to save the country from the enormous cost of running the government.

Currently, over five people in the NPP, including Dr Bawumia, Alan Kyeremanteng, Dr Afriyie Akoto, Boakye Agyarko, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, have declared their intentions to contest the flagbearer race. However, Agyapong believes that he is the candidate who can bring the needed change in the country’s political system.

In conclusion, Agyapong has called on the media to avoid creating the impression that the NPP’s presidential race is only between Dr Bawumia and Alan Kyeremanteng. He believes that Ghanaians are yearning for a change in the political heartbeat of the country and wants to be the one to bring that change. He has proposed a reduction in the cost of running the government, consolidation of some ministries, and a reduction in the number of Ministers and deputy Ministers in his government.

As the NPP’s flagbearer aspirant, Agyapong believes that he is the person who can bring the desired change and ensure Ghana’s development and progress.
