Atwiribaoda District Assembly (D/A) Basic School in the Assin North district of the Central Region has been hit by a rain storm, which ripped off its roof two weeks ago.
As a result, pupils have been forced to study under trees, leaving them exposed to the elements. However, the Head Teacher, Wisdom Amenu, has revealed that a temporary structure will be erected to bring normalcy back to the school.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Assin North District Assembly, Charles Andoh Snr, has delegated officers from the assembly, including the planning officer and engineer, to assess the situation.
In an interview with Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on May 2, 2023, the head teacher disclosed that the DCE had sent two officers to the school to assess the situation, and construction of a makeshift structure was underway to serve the pupils.
Charles Andoh Snr has assured the teachers, parents, and pupils that the temporary structure will be completed soon. He disclosed that the assembly has directed that a beam be cut to provide the wood for the mounting of the structure.
He added that he has desks, which will also be made available to the school immediately after the structures are completed by the workmen.
