Ashaiman Soldier Killing: One Suspect granted Bail of GH¢150000 on Health Grounds

One of the suspects arrested in connection with the killing of 21-year-old soldier Private Imoro Sherrif in Zongo Laka in the Greater Accra Region, Ibrahim Abdul Rakib, has been granted bail by the Ashaiman Circuit Court.

Rakib, who was charged with dishonestly receiving, was granted a GH¢150,000.00 bail with three sureties, two of which must be justified.

The bail conditions require Rakib to provide medical reasons and three sureties, one of whom must be justified.

On April 11, 2023, Rakib and three other accused persons applied for bail at the Ashaiman Circuit Court, but only Rakib secured bail on health grounds.

The remaining five accused persons were remanded in police custody and are scheduled to appear in court on April 25, 2023.

The court ordered the prosecution to file disclosures on or by April 25, 2023.

The prosecution had requested an adjournment to allow for further investigations, which they claimed were at an advanced stage.

Meanwhile, three other accused persons in the same case, Samuel Tetteh, alias Wiper, Abu­bakar Sadick, alias Birdman, have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and are awaiting advice from the office of the Attorney-General (A-G).

They will reappear before the District Magistrate Court in Tema on April 25, 2023.

On March 4, 2023, the police received information that a male adult had been found dead at Ashaiman Taifa in the Greater Accra Region.

The victim was subsequently identified as Imoro Sheriff, a soldier, and two of the accused persons were alleged to have attempted to rob him, resulting in one of them stabbing him in the arm.

Four other accused persons were charged with buying a stolen mobile phone taken from the soldier.
